Ozempic Causing Osteoporosis in Young People?

Written by: | Posted on: | Category:

In a recent viral post on X, singer Avery, who is in her 20's, said she was stunned to learn she now has osteoporosis from using Ozempic for weight loss.

It's true that rapid weight loss without being accompanied by some kind of load-bearing exercise can lead to bone loss in some people.

But this is the first we are hearing about someone so young being diagnosed with osteoporosis related to the use of Ozempic.

Ozempic and similar pharmaceutical drugs have exploded in off-label use for weight loss.

It was originally a diabetes drug and was found to also be effective for losing weight, resulting in mass off-label prescribing by the medical and weight loss industries.

It's not like the pharmaceutical industry has a problem with re-purposing their drugs for off-label use, as long as they can make money doing it. Anything for a buck with those guys.

Without providing any long-term safety studies before doctors started prescribing these drugs for widespread off-label use, it should have been obvious to all that there were going to be unknown and perhaps devastating side-effects.

And now here we are.

We at viiiv Fitness have known for awhile now that measured isometric strength training on the viiivPRO can reverse bone loss from osteopenia and osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis is a significant global health problem with far-reaching consequences.

Worldwide, 1-in-3 women and 1-in-5 men over age 50 will experience osteoporotic fractures in their lifetime.

Osteoporosis represents a major public health challenge, with significant impacts on individual health, healthcare systems, mortality rates and society as a whole.

Osteogenic loading stimulates new bone growth, but that requires forces that are multiples of body weight.

Traditional weight lifting is not a viable way to achieve this without severe risk of injury.

And given that osteoporosis is a global pandemic, smart entrepreneurs have been using the viiivPRO to treat osteoporosis in clients and patients instead of using pharmaceutical drugs, which are not very effective and can lead to bones becoming even more brittle - see Better Bones with viiivPRO.

But now the ground has shifted.

Up until the widespread use of Ozempic and similar drugs for weight loss, osteopenia and osteoporosis wasn't a concern for young people.

And now it is.

The North America osteoporosis treatment market, which includes various treatment methods beyond just equipment, was valued at USD $6.4 billion in 2022, and was projected to reach USD $12.8 billion by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 7.1%.

The above market size for osteoporosis treatment was BEFORE the link between Ozempic and osteoporosis in young people was detected.

This is a seismic shift in future demand.

If you thought it may be a good idea to start addressing the osteoporosis market before, when it was mostly just 50+ year old women that needed a solution, that market size just increased exponentially.
